Meridian, Idaho is the third largest city in the state, and, in many ways, Boise’s sister city. Located west of Boise, this suburban paradise is populated by some of the most sought after new homes in the state. Usually known for its green parks and great shopping, Meridian is also a very active community for new construction and new neighborhoods.
Meridian started off as a simple farming community outside of Boise, but, in recent decades, it has grown into a strong economic and political player in Idaho. In Meridian, it is hard to not find fun things to do, great places to eat, educational opportunities, outdoor hotspots, amazing shopping venues, and peaceful neighborhoods to put down your roots, because these are all things that make Meridian what it truly is.

Many realtors will tell you that the three most important things about buy a home are location, location, and location, and in Meridian it is no different. Though the differences are subtle, there are three different parts of the great city of Meridian: east Meridian, west Meridian, and south Meridian. They each have their own great qualities, amenities, and atmospheres.
East Meridian is usually defined as the area between Eagle Road (Highway 55), Meridian Road, and Interstate 84. This rectangle is an interesting part of the city. Even when Meridian was becoming a city, this area was still very rural, so there are large portions of it that are still broken up into larger lots with older ranch homes on them. However, interspersed between these larger rural lots, there are some great new neighborhoods that are not only beautiful, but spacious, and comfortable as well.
In east Meridian there are many amenities to choose from. The Village at Meridian, Meridian’s newest outdoor mall and shopping center, is one of the biggest draws for people in Meridian and west Boise. It has primer restaurants and shops from California, a bowling alley, and movie theater. Many people, both young and old, find it a great place to spend an afternoon or evening.
However, if you don’t want to go shopping, just north of Village parking lot is Kleiner Park. This park was transformed by the city and the Kleiner family from Julius M. Kleiner’s farm. The park is complete with an outdoor amphitheater, fishing pond, playground equipment, and acres upon acres of open grassy hills and valleys. It is open from sunset to sundown every day for residents and visitors to enjoy.
West Meridian is about the same dimensions as east Meridian, but on the west side of Meridian Road. It stretches from Meridian Road to Blackcat Road between Chinden Boulevard and Interstate 84. It is home to Meridian’s downtown and historic district as well as several dozen grocery stores, the Meridian Library, and Meridian City Pool. It has dozens of great restaurants, entertainment establishments and more. It is a place for lots of shopping, business and fun. However, to the western edge of West Meridian there are many new neighborhoods that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Many of these neighborhoods are made of several dozen ranch and craftsman style homes. They usually will have a park with playground and sometimes have pools and spas open to the residents. The average home in west Meridian will have about 3 – 5 bedrooms, two levels, and an average of 2,500 square feet each.
South Meridian consists of everything south of Interstate 84. It aside from west Meridian, most of the new homes are being built here. These neighborhoods are much like the ones in west Meridian, being built of several dozen units, however, homes in south Meridian will more than likely have more than 2,500 square feet each, as well as more than 3 – 5 bedrooms. South Meridian also has more opportunities for custom homes and larger lots. It is a pleasant blend of rural tranquility and suburban convenience and comfort.
Aside from all the wonderful amenities of east and west Meridian that residents can enjoy, south Meridian is also has some great things to take advantage of. South Meridian is home to several bulk food stores, a movie theater, and even Roaring Springs Waterpark. This part of Meridian also has some amazing parks, restaurants, and other fun things to do.

These builder have ranch, modern, and craftsman styles dwellings, and everything in between. Their neighborhoods have everything from community pools and clubhouses to parks and playgrounds, making them some of the most coveted places to live in the Treasure Valley.
